The Art of the Tortured Mind by MikeM92 The Art of the Tortured Mind by MikeM92
Newspaper clippings from various papers about different shootings including virginia tech.

on the back there is a small clipping which reads:
" 'I wanted to go out in a blaze of glory' "

The bottom right corner reads: The Art of the Tortured Mind

Newspaper
20 x 16 canvas
ink
acrylic paint
spray adhesive

****
Please Note:
This is not just about VIrginia Tech. People have been messing that up. This has clippings from many shootings and the whole piece itself stands for them all. Clippings include:
Columbine
kent
Virginia Tech
Other random ones.

****

This is hainging in my room and i recently decided to take the magazine clippings that read "the art of the tortured mind" off. So imagine those arent there anymore. I might try to take a better photograph of it eventually. I think the real thing looks much better that the photograph.

Buy the original. Message me for details. It may take a while for me to respond.

This is wonderful, very nicely put together. Did you have to photocopy the articles or are they originals?

Thank you very much :]

They are not originals. They were from a book that included many newspaper articles involving crime since the 16th century.

I'm more on the "no" side of that. Read the artist's comments on "commercialism" If you would like to know more.

When I saw this piece, I got the shivers. It's crazy b/c art rarely does that to me.
I think your collage is flawless. Everything flows together well and I like how it's all tied up with red splatters.

A really moving piece. Collage is one of my favorite mediums and I think you utilize it quite well to express your point.

There are some things that come across so much better using a traditional approach. Sadly, I mostly only do digital collage these days because I don't currently have anything resembling my own studio space and my children are guaranteed to destroy anything on paper.

Great work.

Great use of clippings. The one thing I'd recommend is the use of magazine clippings elsewhere in the piece to even out the title. You use newspaper throughout the piece save for the small corner. It makes the title and theme stand out, but leaves the piece feeling slightly off-balance.

You have some great mixed-media collage work, keep it up.

Nice piece. I especially like how the word 'horror' stands out.

only thing i'm not keep on is the black splotches, they all seem too straight lined.

Overall a good bit of work
